Our Story

Ted Degner was a born entrepreneur. After working years on the rigs in the Alaskan Prudhoe Bay oilfield, he started a steel fabrication company, Waiward Steel, in 1972. Over 40 years Waiward grew into the largest industrial Canadian steel fabrication supplier to Alberta’s Oil Sands industry.

After the transition from the steel fabrication industry, TID was created to grow and manage the shareholder wealth that was created. Ted’s values of Hard Work, Integrity, and Commitment to the Community are the foundational stones which TID is based on.

Meet the Team

Terry Degner

Director

After a successful junior hockey career with the Tri-City Americans, Terry returned home to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta. While successfully playing four years with the Golden Bears Hockey team, he completed his Bachelor of Commerce.

After university, Terry worked for six years as a Financial Analyst, before he was called back to the family business – Waiward Steel. After working his way up to President of Waiward Steel, Terry was able to sucessfully transition the business to a private equity firm.

Terry brings a wealth of knowledge in the oil & gas, and construction industries, with a proven track record of seeing, growing, and delivering new opportunities. From providing day to day operational management, creating winning organizational cultures, and long term strategic vision, Terry is able to effectively lead organizations to their maximum potential.

Sherilyn Perez-Parada

Director

Sherilyn attended the University of Alberta graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting. While working at a local trucking dealership, Sherilyn earned her CMA designation. After her designation, Sherilyn did management consulting and training for various companies, before moving into the controller positions, at 2 young and growing companies.

Sherilyn brings experience in formalizing Human Resources, driving maximum workplace safety and efficiency. Through the careful selection and implementation of financial systems, she is able to capitalize on the information to assist in both day to day decisions, as well as long term development of strategy. With relationships in the Finance sector, she can help organizations grow effectively.
